How TRU Began

Good things often come from unexpected places—like the COVID pandemic. TRU’s founder, Ruth Halpern, used her creativity to help others, from sewing masks for essential workers to making blankets for shelters and volunteering wherever she could.

Through these efforts, Ruth gained a deeper understanding of the needs in her own community. This insight, combined with the many opportunities she discovered to help, led her to leave the corporate world and become a full-time volunteer. In November 2021, TRU Partnership was born, bringing together like-minded people to serve those in need.

TRU Partnership provides essential and joy-enhancing goods such as toys, clothing, furniture, and household items, all sourced through donations and upcycling. We believe in giving people dignity and choice, showing them options so they can pick what suits them best.

In 2023, we gave away over $800,000 in thrift store value and are on track to exceed $1 million in 2024. While we primarily serve Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester Counties, our reach extends beyond these areas. We operate from donated spaces in Voorhees and Marlton, NJ, and often host volunteer work sessions in our founder’s family room in Bellmawr, NJ.

At TRU Partnership, we’re passionate about showing others that everyone can make a difference. As a fully volunteer-run and donation-supported 501(c)(3) organization, we welcome everyone to join us in making a positive impact.
